North-east England residents keen on credit cards
By UK CreditCards.com
The north-east of England is home to the most avid credit card users, according to new research.
A study by Callcredit Marketing Solutions found that 14% of people in the area have four or more credit cards -- and frequently use them for day-to-day purchases. At the other end of the scale, the Welsh are the least likely group in the UK to have large amounts of credit cards. Only 6% said that they have at least four cards.
Owen Roberts, head of Callcredit, said that too many people are relying on credit cards to help them when money is tight -- despite warnings in the media.
Additionally, he said that those who try to cut back on spending will have "difficult months ahead."
"It's more important than ever to keep a close eye on your finances and regularly checking your credit report will help you do so," he concluded.
