Mobile alerts being trialled by Visa

A new mobile alert system that provides credit card customers with full details of their transactions is being trialled by Visa.
The payment network has launched the new system in a bid to reduce cases of card fraud, which, according to the latest British Crime Survey, has risen steadily in recent years.
Visa's new system will involve cardholders receiving a text message or mobile email on their handsets whenever they make a transaction. Details of the amount they have spent, along with information on the time and location of the purchase, will be included in the alert.
Sandra Alzetta, senior vice president of innovation and new product development at Visa Europe, said: "We want to offer cardholders the reassurance of knowing, in real-time, exactly where and when their card is being used. If something looks suspicious, this will give them the power to put a stop to any fraud taking place on their cards."
